about

I wrote "Eden" in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic to create an escape for myself. The stress of the pandemic, coupled with the constant racial onslaught faced by Black people in the United States had me craving for an escape; a perfect world of my own creating. I sing about Eden as a metaphysical place where anyone could escape to, if only for 3.5 mins. I hope you all love it!

lyrics

[Verse]
Take me back to Eden
A garden of our own
I need a break from all this
I need to go back home

There’s ghost up in these wall see
They’re calling out my name
And baby when they find me
I’ll never be the same

[Chorus]
It may seem like I’m runnin from you
But that just ain’t the truth
Tryin to get back to my roots
Tryin to shake this pain a loose

It feels like I’ve been lost for days
Lost in this unknown
Just tryin to rebuild my own throne
I just need to get right at home

[Verse]

My well is runnin dry now
Got nowhere else to go
Let’s find our way to Eden
A place for us to grow

So baby take my hand now
We’ll turn these tears to gold
Our future is ahead now
Our story still untold

[Chorus]
It may seem like I’m runnin from you
But that just ain’t the truth
Tryin to get back to my roots
Tryin to shake this pain a loose

It feels like I’ve been lost for days
Lost in this unknown
Just tryin to rebuild my own throne
I just need to get right at home

[Bridge]
It’s time to restart
See growth is the hardest part
I’ve known it from the very start
To remain the same would break my heart

[Chorus]
It may seem like I’m runnin from you
But that just ain’t the truth
Tryin to get back to my roots
Tryin to shake this pain a loose

It feels like I’ve been lost for days
Lost in this unknown
Just tryin to rebuild my own throne
I just need to get right at home
